USTA Coaches
Project Overview
The United States Tennis Association (USTA) partnered with eSkillz to enhance their Cornerstone LMS coaching platform through strategic CSS customizations deployed via Google Tag Manager. Working within the constraints of Cornerstone’s standard interface—which typically doesn’t allow direct editing of system-generated pages—the project utilized GTM injection to transform the visual presentation of the coaching LMS without requiring backend development or custom page builds. The challenge was to create a cohesive, branded experience that aligned with USTA Coaching’s identity while maintaining all native Cornerstone functionality and ensuring updates wouldn’t break the existing system.
The solution involved carefully crafted CSS rules that modified border radius on buttons and containers to create a more modern, rounded aesthetic, adjusted background colors to implement the distinctive black theme throughout key interface elements, customized button styling to ensure consistent appearance across primary and secondary actions, and selectively hid unnecessary UI components that cluttered the user experience. The styling addressed specific Cornerstone-generated classes across multiple page types including the learning search interface, custom pages like the Safe Play notice, and course detail pages. Particular attention was paid to maintaining accessibility and readability while implementing the dark theme, ensuring white text remained crisp and clear against black backgrounds. The GTM approach allowed for rapid deployment and easy iteration, with the ability to test changes in real-time and make adjustments without lengthy development cycles.
